Materials & Finishes

Mild steel, stainless steel and brass, with zinc, nickel and decorative platings and pre-applied locking patches.

Hex flange bolts shown in raw steel, white zinc, trivalent, nickel, yellow, brass, copper, green zinc and black zinc finishes, with nylon patch, serrated flange and lock washer retention options

Materials

MS

Mild Steel

Low-carbon steel wire and bar for cold heading and turning. Used for most screws and bolts; plated for corrosion protection.

SS

Stainless Steel

A2 (304) for general corrosion resistance; A4 (316) for outdoor, coastal and chemical exposure. Property classes per ISO 3506. No plating needed.

BR

Brass

Free-cutting brass for turned parts, nozzles and moulding inserts. Machines cleanly and resists corrosion without plating.

AL/CU

Aluminium & Copper

For light or electrically conductive turned parts. Made on request.

Finishes

Plating is done by our finishing partners and checked when parts come back. For corrosion-critical parts, name the coating standard (for example ISO 4042 or ISO 19598) and the salt-spray hours you need.

  1. Self / RawNo coating. For parts painted or plated later, or used indoors.
  2. White ZincZinc with clear or blue-white passivation. General indoor use.
  3. TrivalentZinc with Cr(VI)-free passivation, RoHS-compliant. Clear, blue or yellow tones.
  4. Yellow ZincZinc with iridescent yellow passivation.
  5. Green ZincZinc with matte olive-green passivation.
  6. Black ZincZinc with black passivation for dark, visible parts.
  7. NickelBright, hard-wearing decorative finish. Furniture and visible hardware.
  8. Brass PlatedBrass colour on steel parts. Furniture and fittings.
  9. Copper PlatedCopper colour, or an underlayer for further plating.
  10. Other CoatingsOther platings or coatings named on your drawing.

Locking & Retention

Ways to stop a joint working loose under vibration. Tell us the joint and we'll suggest the simplest one.

  1. Nylon locking patchPolyamide patch on the thread adds friction. Reusable a few times.
  2. Adhesive thread-lock patchMicro-encapsulated adhesive cures after assembly. Single use; locks and seals.
  3. Prevailing-torque threadThread form that grips the mating thread without an added material.
  4. Serrated flangeSerrations under the head bite the surface.
  5. Captive washerWasher fitted before thread rolling, so it can't be lost.
  6. Lock washerSplit or tooth washer under the head or nut.
  7. To your drawingOther retention features made to specification.
